Safety Equipment / Smoke CO Alarm
The Kidde 9CO5-LP battery-operated carbon monoxide alarm, equipped with sophisticated electronic components, is designed to protect you and your family from the dangers of carbon monoxide. This easy-to-install device features an intuitive slide-out battery door, providing easy and immediate access to the batteries, as well as a safety feature mechanism that ensures the unit is properly closed with the batteries in place.
Powered by 2-AA alkaline batteries, the Kidde 9CO5-LP offers convenient installation without the need for any wiring, and it continues to provide protection even during a power failure. This alarm is suitable for all living areas and comes with a 7-year life warranty and a 5-year limited warranty.
When carbon monoxide is detected, the Kidde 9CO5-LP will alert you and your family with a loud, 85-decibel warning signal. The alarm uses an electrochemical sensor to continuously monitor carbon monoxide levels, even during power outages when AC-only units are not providing protection.
The alarm pattern consists of four short beeps, followed by five seconds of silence, then four more short beeps, accompanied by a corresponding red LED light. This cycle will repeat for four minutes and then change to one cycle every minute until the device is reset or the carbon monoxide is eliminated. The red LED light will also pulse to indicate the presence of carbon monoxide until the device is reset or the gas is removed from the surrounding area.
When there is no carbon monoxide present, a green LED light will flash every 30 seconds, indicating that the alarm is functioning properly and receiving power.
The Kidde 9CO5-LP offers additional features for your convenience and safety. The test-hush button allows you to easily test the battery operations as well as temporarily silence the low battery chirp warning. The unit also includes an Event Memory feature, which records the last time carbon monoxide was detected or when the unit was last tested.
Certified by UL, the Kidde 9CO5-LP carbon monoxide alarm comes with a 10-year limited manufacturer's warranty on the alarm itself (not a battery performance claim). The warranty begins when the alarm is powered on, and if the activation date is unknown, it is recommended to replace the unit.
To ensure the safety of your family, it is recommended to install a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector on every level of your home and near bedrooms. This dual-protection approach can help keep your loved ones safe from the dangers of fire and poisonous gas.
